Lake Forest, IL (Sports Network) - The Chicago Bears placed kicker Robbie Gould on injured reserve Tuesday and signed veteran kicker Olindo Mare to a one-year contract.

Gould injured his left calf muscle in pregame warmups before Sunday's 21-14 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. He was able to knock down a pair of extra points, but he did not attempt a field goal and had to be replaced by punter Adam Podlesh on kickoffs.

The eighth-year Penn State product has connected on 21-of-25 field goal attempts and all 33 of his extra-point tries this season.

Mare, a 15-year veteran, last appeared in the NFL with the Carolina Panthers in 2011, knocking down 22-of-28 field goals.

In 232 career games with Miami, New Orleans, Seattle and Carolina, the 39- year-old kicker has made 350-of-431 field goal attempts.

In other roster moves, Chicago placed cornerback Sherrick McManis (knee) and safety Craig Steltz (chest) on injured reserve and signed linebacker Jerry Franklin to a two-year contract.

The Bears also elevated wide receiver Joe Anderson from the practice squad, signed guard Chris Riley to the practice squad and waived offensive lineman Andre Gurode.
