New York, NY (Sports Network) - The New York Knicks assigned forward Amar'e Stoudemire to Erie of the NBA Development League on Tuesday as the veteran continues to rehab from knee surgery.

Stoudemire was scheduled to miss the first 6-to-8 weeks of the regular season after undergoing a knee debridement in early November, thanks to a ruptured cyst on the back of his left knee.

The Florida native played in just one game this preseason, a 27-minute appearance against Toronto that saw him score 18 points and add five rebounds.
