Marlon Byrd added two doubles and two runs scored for the Cubs, while starter Jeff Samardzija got the win despite allowing seven runs on 10 hits in four innings.
Carlos Gonzalez had five RBI and a run scored for Colorado. Tyler Chatwood allowed nine runs -- eight earned -- on nine hits and a walk in 4 1/3 innings.
