Recap: Fairfield vs. Yale

Bridgeport, CT (Sports Network) - The Fairfield Stags erased a 13-point halftime deficit and rode Rakim Sanders and his 21 points and 11 rebounds to a 68-56 win over the Yale Bulldogs as part of the 2012 CollegeInsider.com Tournament at Webster Bank Arena.

Also scoring in double figures for the Stags (20-14) was Colin Nickerson who tallied a game-high 22 points on 9-of-14 shooting from the floor.

The Bulldogs (19-10) were paced by Greg Mangano who dropped in 17 points and pulled down eight rebounds, followed by Reggie Willhite with 10 points in the setback.

Yale connected on a sizzling 60 percent from the floor in the first half, while the defense limited the hosts to just 1-of-8 shooting behind the three- point line in order to provide the Bulldogs with a 39-26 lead at the break.

The second half was a completely different story for the visitors as they converted a total of just five field goals and missed on all nine chances beyond the arc, en route to the double-digit loss.

Fairfield, which survived a mere 2-of-11 shooting behind the three-point line and 14-of-27 at the charity stripe, is now set to host a second-round game on Sunday at Alumni Hall against fellow Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference member Manhattan.
