Las Vegas, NV (Sports Network) - Kevin Pangos erupted for 30 points as he helped guide the Gonzaga Bulldogs to a comfortable 77-58 win over the BYU Cougars in the semifinals of the West Coast Conference Tournament at Orleans Arena.
Pangos connected on 5-of-9 shots behind the three-point line and 10-of-17 from the floor overall for the second-seeded Bulldogs (25-5) who are now set to face off against the top-seeded Saint Mary's Gaels in the title game on Monday night. The third-seeded Cougars (25-8) were paced by Brandon Davies with 17 points, while Noah Hartsock, Matt Carlino and Charles Abouo all tallied 12 points, the latter also pulling down 10 rebounds in defeat.
The defense for the Bulldogs limited BYU to a mere eight field goals in the first half and 1-of-10 shooting behind the three-point line, allowing the Zags to claim a 38-26 lead at the break.
In the second half it was more Gonzaga as the squad made good on 53.8 percent from the field in order to pull away for the comfortable win.
The Cougars finished the night shooting just 3-of-18 behind the three-point line and 15-of-24 at the free-throw line.
