Recap: UMKC vs. Wright State

Kansas City, MO (Sports Network) - Led by 25 points from Julius Mays, the Wright State Raiders took down the UMKC Kangaroos, 76-62, in a BracketBusters game at the Swinney Recreation Center in Kansas City.

For the Raiders (13-16), Johann Mpondo added 14 points, while Kendall Griffin and Cole Darling each chipped in 11.

The Kangaroos (10-19) were led by Reggie Chamberlain with 22 points, while Trinity Hall scored 11 points.

Wright State came out of the gate shooting a scorching 65.4 percent from the field, including 6-of-8 from beyond the arc. UMKC did their best to keep up, connecting 54.5 percent, including 4-of-8 from three-point range. The Raiders took a 42-30 lead into intermission.

After the break, both teams cooled off. The Kangaroos made just 37 percent from the floor. The Raiders still shot well, hitting on 47.4 percent from the field in the period and the cruised to the road win.

WSU outscored UMKC in the paint, 28-20, and also converted 13 Kangaroo turnovers into 22 points.
