Jonesboro, AR (Sports Network) - Marcus Hooten scored 28 points and Trey Finn added 20 to pace Arkansas State to a 77-67 win over FIU in Sun Belt Conference action.
Ed Townsel scored nine to go with eight assists for the Red Wolves (12-17, 6-8 Sun Belt), who have won back-to-back contests after losing three in a row.
Phil Taylor sank five three-point shots and scored 17 for FIU (7-19, 4-10), which has lost four straight. Dominique Ferguson added 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Golden Panthers, who also received 13 points from DeJuan Wright.
The hosts scored the game's first seven points, capped by Brandon Peterson's layup. Arkansas State, which went 15-of-25 from the field in the first half, didn't trail the entire game. The Red Wolves led 36-27 at the break.
Wright's three-pointer with 14:48 left tied the game at 46, but Finn responded with a three and the Red Wolves were up the remainder of the night.
Finn and Hooten combined to go 8-of-15 from beyond the arc.
