University Park, PA (Sports Network) - Penn State senior guard Tim Frazier will miss the remainder of the 2012-13 season with a ruptured Achilles tendon in his left leg.

Frazier suffered the injury during the Nittany Lions' 85-60 loss Sunday to Akron at the Puerto Rico Tip-off.

"Tim is a tremendous player, a great team leader and just a fantastic young man who put a ton of hard work into having a terrific senior season," Penn State coach Patrick Chambers said. "I have no doubt he will meet this challenge and will again be one of the top players in the nation."

Frazier finished the year averaging 16.3 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.8 assists over four games. He is eligible to apply to the NCAA for a medical redshirt season.
