A Chico man was beat up and robbed early Monday morning along a city bike path where assaults have become regular threat.

Chico Police investigators say officers responded to the assault call shortly after 2:30 a.m. The victim told police that he was riding on the bicycle path between W. Sacramento Avenue and W. 4th Avenue shortly after 2 a.m. when he encountered two individuals walking on the bike path and slowed to speak with them.

The man was then attacked.  They also stole his bicycle, phone, and jacket. The suspects, described as Hispanic male adults or Black male adults in their 20's wearing dark clothing, fled the scene after the incident. The victim's injuries were minor and he declined medics. The bicycle taken is described as a 21-speed orange mountain bike.
