Officers received a 911 call around 8pm Tuesday night from a home on Plateau Pines in Shingletown. When they arrived on scene, officers located Lynn Hamilton at his residence who was bleeding from both of his hands. Officers also located another man across the street in the snow deceased. Deputies say that the other man had been making threats to kill Hamilton earlier in the evening and while running a chainsaw had threatened to cut off Hamilton’s head. The verbal threats escalated when the man walked over to Hamilton’s driveway armed with a baseball bat and again threatened to kill him. The man began beating Lynn Hamilton with the baseball bat causing major injuries to his hands. Hamilton, who feared for his life, pulled a handgun out of his pocket and shot the man. He died from his wounds on scene.

Lynn Hamilton was not arrested. He was questioned and released. The name of the man killed is not being released at this time. This investigation is on-going and when completed it will be reviewed by the Shasta District Attorney’s Office.
