They're the snacks that certainly earned their place as a part of American culture. "Hostess has been around for 35 years or so, and it's become an American institution. To allow it to disappear is a shame," according to Hostess fan Charles Wilkerson.
The Texas based company is responsible for some of the country's favorite treats, but soon, consumers will have to find another way to satisfy their sweet tooth. News of the closure spread fast, and that led to customers lining up outside of the Chico location at 10 am Friday morning. When the doors opened, items like cupcakes, and twinkies started flying off the shelves. "I hopped right down here as quick as i can to grab some twinkies. It's the end of an era," according to Al Sajadi.
No matter what the reason, every customer we spoke with said, the company will be sorely missed.
