Most neighbors agree that the Schatz family seemed to be a prime example of a Christian loving family. However, the couple now is accused of killing their eight year old adopted daughter and leaving her 11-year old sister in critical condition.
Kevin and Elizabeth Schatz of Paradise had six biological children and three adopted children who were home-schooled.Police say the children were disciplined and beaten for not spelling words correctly.
The Schatz family went to Liberia to adopt their three daughters in 2007. We interviewed the family at that time. They had even put up a time line of their eighteen-month long adoption process and were anxious to expand their family.
