An interagency investigative team is looking into a deadly officer-involved shooting in Magalia.
Butte County Sheriff's deputies reportedly received a call of shots being fired in the area of Bethany Circle and Wycliff Way in Magalia Thursday night.
Shortly after Deputy Chris Dineen arrived in the area at 7:50 p.m., the initial caller, Wayne Oxley, called back to report more shots fired and asked to speak with the deputy.
Deputy Dineen reportedly told dispatchers he did not hear any shots in the area.
Dineen says as he approached Oxley's the 50-year-old came out pointing a handgun at the deputy, demanding he surrender his weapon.
That's when Dineen says he shot Oxley killing him.
The Butte County Officer Involved Shooting Protocol Team is now handling the investigation.
