Two Oroville residents are behind bars after allegedly manufacturing drugs in the parking lot of an apartment complex.
Oroville Police Lieutenant Allen Byers says officers were surprised at how blatant the suspects were.
Police were called to the apartment complex at 1512 Polmona Avenue just after midnight after a witness reported the two men were huffing paint and burning items in the driveway of the complex.
Officers observed the active Honey Oil lab bubbling in the parking lot of the apartment complex and the suspects in the process of manufacturing.
There was also a strong gas odor and officers observed a lit stove top burner inside the apartment through the open front door and because of the serious public safety risk, as the labs are extremely flammable, officers imediately evacuated the four apartment complex.
21-year-old William Preston Rose and 20-year-old Jesse Cole Broadway, both of Oroville, were arrested and booked into the Butte County Jail on charges of Manufacturing of a Controlled Substance.
