Many people in Chico are hitting the mats at Azads Marital Arts Family Center hoping to ensure their safety against an attacker with a knife. Class members are learning how to defend themselves should their worst fears come true and find themselves face to face with an attacker. Martial arts grand master Azad says he hopes after a workshop each member will be confident when faced in dangerous situations such as the ones they have practiced. The workshop is $25 and they are only available for this month and will be held every Tuesday at six pm. The money they earn from the workshops will be used to buy canned food so that it may be given to community families in need.
