Alan Marsden re-joined the Action News team in November of 2005 after previously working at the station from 2001 to 2003.  He co-anchors NBC 24 Action News at 5, CBS 12 Action News at 6:30 and Action News at 11.   Alan brings to Action News more than 30 years of television broadcasting experience, the first 12 years being behind the scenes.

Previously, Alan has worked at KXTV News10 in Sacramento, KCBA in Salinas/Monterey, KYMA in Yuma, Arizona, KRNV in Reno, Nevada and KSL in Salt Lake City, Utah.  Alan has just about done it all in the television business including, anchor, reporter, producer, assignment desk editor, master control operator and studio camera operator.  His first television job was at the age of 18 at KTVX in Salt Lake City where he was that station’s last-ever projectionist.

As a reporter/anchor Alan has had the opportunity to meet and interview numerous national figures including Harry Reid, John McCain and Dan Quayle.  Some of the memorable stories through the years include reporting live from the 1996 Republican National Convention; climbing the Bay Bridge; becoming a student pilot for a day; reporting live from the 2007 Angora Fire at Lake Tahoe.

Alan is a first-generation American born and raised in Utah.  He’s a graduate of the University of Utah.  Alan and his wife have been married for nearly 30 years.  They are the parents of two children, a daughter and a son.
