A rash of recent stabbings stretched the Chico Police Department thin over a short period of time, and the Chico City Council has been taking notice.  According to Mayor Mary Goloff, it's a top priority.  She says the council is looking for ways to add funding for more officers.   The council has been holding a series of budget meetings, and under the direction of City Manager Brian Nakamura, the council plans on reducing the number of department heads from 12 to 5.  Mayor Goloff declined to speculate on a timeline when, or how many positions will be added.
