Choosing a podiatrist is much like choosing any other medical specialist. Membership in either the American Podiatric Medical Association or the American Board Of Podiatric Surgery will assure you that this is a professional who keeps abreast of the latest in foot care procedures. You can ask your family doctor for a recommendation or inquire about podiatrists who have helped friends or family members. Nurses tend to work with a number of doctors and can often be a good source of objective information. Finally, schedule an appointment and have a talk with the podiatrist. Only then will you be able to determine whether this is someone you can put your trust in.
