A Chico State Geologist says Thursday night's Plumas County earthquake was a rare event for the area.

Teachers and administrators of the continuation school evacuated the campus after a suspicious case was located atop a dumpster in the middle of campus at approximately 7:45 a.m. After examination, the bomb squad found the case was empty. Ridgeview High School did not resume classes for the remainder of the day
