If you look on the Megan's Law Website, you'll likely see you're surrounded by sex offenders. Those that are on parole, are tracked with GPS bracelets, but some have figured out a way to get them off. Now the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation is catching up with them by email. "A tool like this is very vital for us" said Parole Administrator David Nichols.
The CDCR has implemented a new link to its website. Sex offenders who are currently on parole and violate that parole by cutting off their GPS monitoring devices will become well known to the public. "It notifies the public that this offender may be in their community unsupervised, and it also allows them to view these offenders to possibly notify us if they've seen them" Nichols explained.
Once a sex offender commits a cut and run their information is automatically emailed to website subscribers. There you'll see their name, picture, description and last know whereabouts. Offenders like Marty Lee Quinn, who was last seen in Butte County. " The information is available for anybody with internet access through the link that is available through the department website" Nichols said.
Getting free updates on sex offenders who violate their parole is easy, simply enter in your email address, hit subscribe and alerts are sent to you through email and Twitter. Since August 10th, four parolees have already been located.
