The Chico Police Department is already making plans for its annual Blue Santa event.
For the fifth straight year, the department is teaming with the Esplanade House to give gifts to more than 100 children.
To do that the department needs to raise $4,000 for the event.
Organizers say the event is not just a fun event for the children, but also a way to make sure they have positive interactions with officers.
"Get them an opportunity to see us and interact with us in a way differently than they ever have. That makes it all worth the effort," Chico Police Chief Mike Maloney said.
