Los Molinos high school's Clarivel Castillo is the poster child for time management. Sports, acadmics, extra-curricular activies, you name it, she's involved and she's at the top of her class. For her efforts, she's this week's Subway Scholar Athlete.
Los Molinos high's middle hitter and middle blocker Clarivel Castillo is in her element on the volleyball court.
Each play brings a different challenge and the junior thrives on that.
"She has really long strides, she's a force to be reckoned with at the net, she passes really well and she serves really well and she can definitely block and she can definitely hit at 6'0'' tall," said Konopka.
"It's a lot of pressure on you too, you have to know everybody's spot on the court," added Castillo.
But Castillo handles that pressure with flying colors.
In fact, this do-it-all Bulldog leads the Northern Section with 393 kills in 33 games.
"It makes me feel really good that my hard work is paying off," said Castillo.
Castillo is about as well-rounded as they come.
On top of playing volleyball, there are plenty of other activites she takes on.
She's in a variety of school clubs, she's in FFA, she also performs community service, and takes college prep courses, all while maintaining a 3.4 GPA.
"It's a lot to handle but it can be done if you really want to do it," said Castillo.
Since the moment Clarivel arrived at Los Molinos, she's made the school a better place, so as much she appears in her element on the volleyball court, there's actually no where in the school she can't make a difference.
In the future, when it's time to take the next step in her life, Castillo says she wants to become a nurse because.....
"I want to work with babies and help them out because they're so cute," said Castillo.
Clarivel Castillo is our latest Subway Scholar Athlete of the Week.
