Our latest Subway Scholar Athlete has been a regular in the highlight reel on Under the Lights, helping Foothill maintain its status as an elite team in the Northern Section. Tonight, we go deep with the Cougars star wide recer Cooper Janusevskis.
"You know I have the speed and size to, I guess, to go up and get the ball, so I'm just having fun out there you know," said Janusevskis.
"We've had Cooper on the varsity for 3 years now and he's done a tremendous job, he's a guy that gives you everything he has on Friday night's and he's made tremendous plays for us," said Foothill football coach Bryon Hamilton
"You know it's fun, like during the games you're like oh man, I wonder if they got that on film, wondering if they have this on film and going and watching TV and watch yourself on the news, it's unreal to see yourself going out there and doing that," said Janusevskis.
Cooper Janusevskis has made a habit out of making the big play.
The 6'4", All-Northern Section First Team wide receiver is at the top of the EAL or near it in most statistical categories.
"He's just a joy to coach, he's a quiet guy, leads by example, he's just been a blessing to our program," added Hamilton.
"I'm grateful for it you know, coming out of this small town and playing Pop Warner my whole life, it's always been my dream to have my name under the lights and these records and everything and I'm just fulfilling those dreams of mine," said Janusevskis.
While cooper sees plenty of attention from opposing defenses, his skills have also drawn the interest of college recruiters, including the likes of Sacramento State, San Jose State, Fresno State, and the Air Force Academy.
With those schools knocking on the door, you can bet Cooper has the grades to match the athleticism
He carries a 3.5 GPA.
"Without going to school, without getting good grades, can't play football you know, I couldn't imagine myself not playing football so I know to get good grades to be able to play on Friday nights," said Janusevskis.
Cooper has aspirations to one day become a businessman, so the school that lands him might be just be looking at much more than its next wide receiver.
Cooper Janusevskis is our latest Subway Scholar Athlete of the Week.
