This past Saturday, the Enterprise football team beat Paradise in a 36-35 thriller to claim the Division One section title. There's no doubt the Hornets couldn't have pulled off this feat without the play of Brad Woods.
"I just went out there and had fun with my whole entire team, my lined blocked for me and verything happened the way it did and I'm just thankful happy to be here."
it's a game that enterprise high's brad woods will never forget.
"You know what, it's amazing because we worked so hard," said Woods.
On Saturday, this senior running back helped the Hornets to a 36-35 win over Paradise in the Division One section championship.
During that game Woods ran wild for an eye-popping 164 yards with 2 touchdowns, but it was an impromptu trick play by Woods just before halftime that the Enterprise faithful will be talking about for weeks to come.
"Call it lucky, call it whatever, but it worked," said Woods.
With time running out, Woods took the hand-off on a draw, weaved around the defense, and right before he was tackled, Woods had the presence of mind to lateral to his teammate who went 26 yards for the touchdown. In a game that was decided by one point, this trick play very well could've been the difference.
"The whole defense was just collapsing on him and then then ball came out of his hands and came out to me and I got it with one hand, saw some openings, got some good blocks, found a way down the sidelines and got in," said Taylor Angley-Holman.
"No the pitch was nowhere planned, nothing like that, it was just spur of the moment, just toss it up to him and good things happened," said Woods.
"It was super heads up, you know you couldn't have asked for a better way to end your last game," added Angley-Holman.
In a way it was fitting that the heads up play was made by Woods. After all, this humble Hornet aspires to be quick on the spot and smart as evidenced by his 3.6 GPA.
"You can be as good as you want to be as an athlete, or try to get a scholarship or whatever you're trying to do in life but really this is where it counts, if you can't succeed in the classroom, where are you going to succeed in life," said Woods.
