For the Durham Trojans, a win in the post-season tomorrow against the Hamilton Braves in the division five playoffs, would not only keep their season alive, but end several matches of frustration.
The last time Durham lost a volleyball game was September 14th. Since that date, the Trojans have reeled off fourteen straight victories and now find themselves in the semi-finals of the Northern Section division five playoffs.
Devin Grey says, "I've never ever seen our team play so well. We're coming together and we're doing stuff that I've never seen us do before."
Carol Hall says, "our strategy has always been you know we take our time to get ready and be successful in league and I think we're very prepared and peaking at just the right time."
And it just so happens that Durham's opponent in Thursday night's semi-final match-up is the same team that last beat the Trojans over two months ago, the Hamilton Braves.
Cora Hall says, "since we last played them, we've changed our line-up quite a bit and our team has changed and I think we've improved a lot more than they have."
Brita Voris says, "I know it's going to be a challenge for us because they have beat us. It's kind of intimidating but I know that we're a much better team than we we're when we played them before."
And one big difference from the Durham team back in September and the Durham team now, is the evolution of their team chemistry, an aspect of the sport these Trojans hope will give them an upper hand.
Ross Field asks, "How important is it going to be to make sure you guys are all on the same page heading into tomorrow's game?"
Megan Godsil says, "very important because our team last year, we had a really talented team but we had a problem with not everyone would be playing their all all the time. But this year we've definitely improved and especially in these recent weeks we've defintely been playing as a team 100% all of us at the same time."
And we'll see if these Trojans can make it fifteen in a row Thursday night against Hamilton. In Durham for Action Sports, I'm Ross Field.
