The high school wrestling season is just a few weeks down the road. The Eastern Athletic League is always one of the most competitive in the Northern Section and the Paradise Bobcats, hope to be the leader of that pack!
It's a sport that doesn't get very much exposure these days and Paradise Head Wrestling Coach Daniel Nelson wants to change that.
Daniel Nelson says, "these kids give so much, not only our kids but kids throughout the section. Chico, P.V., Sutter, Red Bluff are great programs. They wrestle all year round."
And whether it's doing push-ups and sit-ups, practicing techniques with a partner, or climbing ropes, this Bobcats team feels like they're putting in the proper amount of work to be the best team in the North State.
Rejean Basaldu says, "all this work I've put in during the summer and the preseason, its really going to benefit me this season and I'm really stoked to see how good we do this year."
Austin Bergstedt says, "we've got a lot of heart, we got enough heart I think this year to be able to place at our big tournaments like sections."
And right in the middle of the Bobcats success will be Kenny Skillman, a Senior on a mission to make the State Championships.
Kenny Skillman says, "I personally went to a couple of camps this summer just to push myself. I really want to make some noise in the state's this year and hopefully come out on top."
Nick Morelli says, "I kind of look up to him and I try to train as hard as him. He's a good captain and all that stuff."
And with the season set begin the first week of December, we'll see if these Bobcats can find the success their seeking on the mats and in turn, put the sport of wrestling on the map. Reporting for Action Sports I'm Ross Field.
