Two "Builders Supply* stores in Oroville and Paradise are closing their doors..
Art Thomas is the General Manager for "Collins Companies" which owns "Builders Supply". He told Action News Tuesday the stores would close by the end of the month.
The Oroville store opened 34 years ago and the paradise store opened almost 5years ago..
The store in Chester will remain open.
Thomas attributed the closures to the poor economy and slow down in construction.
He says a state law requiring the retrofitting of diesel truck engines to reduce pollution was also a factor. It would cost about 30-thousand dollars each to retrofit the dozen or so diesel trucks the company has.
Eleven people in the Oroville store will lose their jobs. Fourteen employees will be affected in Paradise. Many have worked for the company for more than 20 years.###
