Every December, Annie's Star Quilt Guild gets together for cookies, friendship, and quilts.  Thursday night at the Family Masonic Center in Chico, they hung more than 200 quilts that will be given to various groups that will hand them out to children and seniors.  They've been doing this since 1987, either donating the materials themselves, or making them from materials from donated estates and local quilting and fabric stores.  Quilter Gail Tozier says, "There's a lot of love and a lot of work that goes into them, and they're very meaningful."  Tozier says each year, they give several to the Chico Police and Fire Departments, to wrap around children who are either going through domestic situations or who have lost their homes to fire.  The quilts are also given to seniors as lap warmers, or in the form of place mats for seniors in the Meals-On-Wheels program.  They are also handed out to the Shriner's, to be distributed at childrens' hospitals, as well as many other organizations.  Tozier says the guild is always looking for new members, and any and all are welcome, including people who have never quilted.
