The Good News Rescue Mission in Redding is recovering from major damage suffered from this past weekend's storms.

Severe loss was experienced in both the distribution center and the already small supply suffered greatly for seasonal and children’s clothing. Our distribution of warm clothing has essentially been shut down until further notice.

Officials say the damage comes at the most difficult time of the year as the ever increasing need is partnered with severe weather. The administrative office was also hit hard and is currently undergoing clean up with portions of the building sealed off awaiting full inspection of the damage.

Early estimates have revealed severe damage. Funds were already being sought to meet the needs this holiday season. Not only was the Mission flooded with water but also with people seeking respite from the storm and warm apparel. The mission is expecting record breaking numbers of guests seeking safe shelter as well. The mission is also reporting that the women’s House of Hope has been at capacity this week.
