Four men from Sacramento County were booked into jail after Redding police stopped a rental truck with 300 pounds of vacuum-packed marijuana.

Acting on information that a U-Haul pickup and a Nissan Altima would be coming through Redding with a large amount of marijuana, police on Sunday made separate stops on two vehicles matching the earlier descriptions of the pickup and the car.

A police dog alerted to marijuana in the pickup and officers found 300 pounds of marijuana in vacuum-sealed bags. The other officer searched the Altima and found packaging material, vacuum-sealing equipment and a walkie-talkie identical to one found in the truck, according to a police press release.

Police said that the men told officers they were coming from Trinity County to Sacramento after processing and packaging the marijuana.

The driver of the U-Haul, Chue Chang, 43, of Sacramento and three men in the Altima, Lor Somboon, 18, of Sacramento, Yang Chue Her, 34, of Elk Grove and Brian Lor, 33, of Sacramento were booked into Shasta County Jail.

All four were arrested on suspicion of possession of marijuana for sale, transportation of marijuana and conspiracy to distribute marijuana.
