The product is the first of it's kind, it's good for the environment, and it's made right here in Northern California. Clean Flame CEO Kory Hamman says "ours is the only product that you can actually cook on, it's very clean, it's only product you can burn in wood burning stoves, it's the only product you can burn in multiples, and it's the only product you can use with regular firewood."
The Oroville based company is one of the only ones in Northern California using it's product to fund State Parks by pledging to raise $300,000.00. According to Hamman, "with all of the budget cuts that have been happening we decided to step up to the plate, and create a partnership program with California State Parks." State Parks Representative Denise Rist added "this is a new wave with the State Parks system in trying to find corporate and private company sponsorship in order to help us with some of our expenses."
Both sides agree, the partnership makes perfect sense. Rist says "the partnership with clean flame to me seems to be a really good fit because theres such a direct correlation between firewood, camping, and camp fires." With that being said, the burning question is how far will the dollars go? "They're not going to be a saving grace for our budget situation, but every little bit helps."
Private companies from Southern California have been donating to the cause for years, but most of those funds stay there. Now Rist hopes this generous donation will light a fire under other businesses, and get them to donate as well. "If we could get some Northern California companies to either want it to go to specific regions or specific parks that would be wonderful."
