The Butte County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting along the Midway just south of Chico.
It happened around 6:30 p.m. Thursday, near the intersection of Midway and Hegen Lane.
The victim told police that someone had shot at him from behind while he was in his vehicle.
Deputies say it appears the suspect used a high powered rifle.
Investigators are ruling the shooting as possibly gang related.
No one was injured.
