Shasta County has confirmed it's first human case of West Nile Virus this year, bringing the number of cases in California this year to 217.
Health officials say the patient was treated and released from a local hospital, and is recovering at home.
Last month, a man in his 80's died of west nile in glenn county.
That county has confirmed six human cases, there have also been six recorded in Butte County and five in Sutter County.
Anyone experiencing high fever, severe headaches, unexplained confusion or a stiff neck should see a health care provider immediately ... and tell them if you've had recent mosquito bites, which are how the virus is spread. ###
