More than a dozen baby horses have been rescued by a Butte County humane society.
This week was the first time any of these foals received quality care and love from a human.
The 14 foals were rescued from an Oregon ranch where they were not being taken care of or fed.
Ten other foals from the same ranch were sold at auction.
Horse Plus workers are already seeing the animals make huge improvements.
VP of Horse Plus Tawnee Preisner says, “That's rewarding seeing life come back into their eyes, seeing their spirits returning to them and see that life isn't all about being hard and rough. There's actually a good side. And they're experiencing that now.”
The foals are about eight months to one year old.
Many of them still need a permanent home.
The adoption fee is $100, which includes a microchip, vaccinations and gelding.
