The Hilltop Shopping Center in Redding, anchored by the old Gottschalks building, is going up for a foreclosure auction next month.
“We've known that the shopping center has been in receivership for a while and we just recently heard it was going up for auction,” says Linda Wiggington, Owner of Linda’s Hallmark.
Every space in the strip center, including Tokyo Garden, Chevy’s Restaurant, Linda’s Hallmark; Tuesday Morning and Minuteman Press will be up for auction on August 20th.
PetCo is the only exception, the space is independently owned.
While an auction sounds scary, it isn't necessarily a bad thing. Anyone who buys the property has to honor the existing leases and if no one buys, the two parcels will become bank owned properties.
Even with all the changes, a new store, I Love Soccer, is getting ready to open up shop. They signed their lease knowing the auction was looming
The auction will be held at 11 am on august 20th on the steps of the Shasta County Courthouse.
