A Chico outdoor advertising company is giving locals a shot at billboard fame.
In the next month, Stott Outdoor Advertising is encouraging Chico residents to make a funny face, and send in a picture of it.
You've probably seen the bright billboards in Chico that simply read: chicofunnyfaces.com.
And soon, that's exactly what the large ads will be plastered with.
Strike a pose, add a little silliness, and you're in the running to be Chico's next billboard model.
Chico resident Lon Glazner says, “I don't know if I'd want to see our funny faces on the billboard, but what the heck.”
If you've ever had big dreams of seeing your face enlarged on the side of the road, Stott Advertising is your magic genie.
General Sales Manager of Stott, Corey Shumway says, “We had some open spots that we put up some of these boards in and we thought, rather than put advertising, we’d put up these signs and interact with the community.”
Fame seekers have until September 15th to upload their funniest face online.
Shumway adds, “After September 15th, we'll put up billboards with their faces on it. Make them famous."
More than 500 people have logged onto the website, after these elusive billboards started popping up in Chico last week.
All the photos submitted to Chico Funny Faces are top secret, so Action News hit the streets to see just how crazy the faces are out there.
While contestants must be 18, they could learn a few things from the kids.
Stott employees will pick out the funniest faces, which could be a couple or several.
It will cost a little for Stott, but the attention is well worth it.
“We want to show off how good artwork on billboards could be fun, powerful and colorful,” says Shumway.
