The first of several wet storms is drenching the North State as officials brace for localized flooding and other storm associated problems.

Right now, area cities and counties are reporting minor street flooding. PG&E says there are no major power outages though extra crews are on standby to respond to any problems.

There has been one major accident so far. One person is dead on Highway 299 about 30 miles east of Redding after an empty logging truck collided head-on with another vehicle.  It is not known the weather was a factor in the crash.

Shasta County has issued sand and sandbags to the following fire departments to be used in the event of an actual flood emergency available on Wednesday 11/28/12 after 1200 hours. Sand and bags will be given to those citizens who are actually experiencing flooding or have an immediate need.

•Palo Cedro Fire Station #32- 9418 Deschutes Rd
•Bella Vista Fire Station #33- 2202 Hwy 299 E
•French Gulch Fire Station #59- 14363 French Gulch Rd
•Cottonwood Fire Station #23- 3271 Brush St
•Jones Valley Fire District- 14680 Ravine Rd
•Mountain Gate Fire Station #41- 14508 Wonderland Bl
•Burney Sheriff’s Substation- 20509 Shasta St

And while the Town of Paradise isn’t concerned with widespread flooding, Town Manager Chuck Rough said the town is offering sandbags to areas that tend to suffer flooding.

Sandbags and sand will be available at 5657 Sierra Park Drive during significant rain events. Sandbags are also available at Town Hall during normal working hours.

Both the bags and sand will be offered free to town residents, with the request that no more than 12 bags be issued to each resident.
