A Shingletown man is in jail after he allegedly shot his son because of his son's karaoke singing.

According to the Shasta County Sheriff's Office, 70-year-old William Henry Oller became so upset with his son's karaoke singing Thursday afternoon, he went out to his truck, got a semi-automatic handgun and came back inside their home where he threatened his son to stop or else.

But his son, 50-year-old William Carr Oller Jr., apparently did not want to put the kibosh on his karaoke. That's when a fight broke out and shots were fired.  Investigators said the father shot his son several times and even shot himself in the leg during the struggle. The gun he used was reportedly a .22 caliber.

Deputies eventually arrived at the Sites Road home and sorted things out, including getting both to the hospital. Today, both have been released from the hospital though the father has been booked in jail on suspicion of attempted murder.

OMG just another reason the anti-gun lobby will use to try to strip my right to own a gun. A crazy old man using a gun to shut his 50 year old son from singing? What in the heck are the people up there drinking in their water or better question, what the heck are they smoking. People kill people regardless if they use a gun, a knife, a car, their bare hands, etc etc. Maybe he should have smashed the kareoke machine over his son's head instead of a gun...how stupid.
