An elderly Redding woman awoke to a burglar in her home, then locked herself in the bathroom for hours to stay safe ... as the suspect continued to ransack the place.
The 82 year-old victim called police to her home on Overhill Drive shortly before 4:00 a.m. Sunday, when she was sure the suspect was gone.
She said he claimed to be a police officer investigating a crime... and told her to lock herself in the bathroom.
The man then spoke to her through the door asking if she had any valuables.
He stole property and her car, which was found abandoned in a parking lot on West Street Monday.
The suspect is described as a white man, 5'8", 180 pounds and wearing a black T-shirt.
If you have information call Redding Police at (530) 225-4214.
Or, call Shasta County Secret Witness ... which is offering a $5000.00 reward. ###
