The Sacramento FBI office has saved six juveniles from prostitution in the area. They were recovered during a sting last week in the Sacramento area.
Last week, local north state law enforcement teamed up with the FBI to scour the internet for any advertising of underage prostitution.
They focused on those advertising themselves as "escorts".
No underage prostitutes were found in the north state, but two women were arrested for prostitution in Chico.
It was a much different story in Sacramento and the bay area.
Six child prostitutes and six pimps were arrested in Sacramento.
In the bay area seven pimps and six teen prostitutes were recovered.
Butte County District Attorney Mike Ramsey says, “Certainly the battle goes on. Does this mean that there is no such activity going on? Certainly not, if there is such activity we just, in this sting operation, haven't seen it.”
The sting was part of Operation Cross Country, which targets the domestic sex trafficking of children.
