A Chico State student is in critical condition after being run over by a pickup early Saturday morning.

Chico Police say CPD dispatch received several reports of a vehicle vs pedestrian collision at the intersection of Walnut St and W. 1st St at 2:43 a.m. Saturday.

Officers arrived on the scene within 30 seconds of the first report and found the pedestrian, 21-year-old Brandon Fisher, along the west curb of Walnut St. just south of W. 1st St. Fisher, who is from Valley Springs, was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries.

Alcohol appeared to be a contributing factor.

The driver of the vehicle, a 2007 Chevrolet pickup, immediately pulled into the parking lot a nearby business. He was identified as Matthew Lambert. Lambert was arrested for misdemeanor DUI.

Preliminary investigation indicated the fisher walked into the roadway in front of the
pickup. The collision is being investigated by members of the Major Accident Investigation
Team.
