Chico police say a Berry Creek man was high on a controlled substance when he tried to carjack an 86 year old woman.
It happened in the parking lot of McDonald's on Connors Avenue.
22 year old Alex Swain allegedly tried to steal the victim's car ... but a friend of the woman saw what was happening and pulled the man out of the vehicle.
Officers say Swain the ran through nearby neighborhoods and tried to steal another woman's car before her friends ran him off.
They also say he tried a third time to steal a car, by breaking out its window.
Swain was finally captured near "The End Zone" on Cohasset Road.
Police say he put up a fight, and required medical attention but will remain under constant supervision until his release from the hospital.###
