Thousands of students returned to the Butte College campus Tuesday for the beginning of the spring semester.
Things were relatively calm as the 11,729 students found their way to their classrooms.
Administrators say spring enrollment is down about 100 students from 2012.
Many students said it seemed easier to find parking and less of a rush to add classes.
School leaders say things could have been much different if Governor Jerry Brown's tax initiative had failed.
"Our class offerings are almost exactly the same as they were in spring. Had prop. 30 not passed we would have lost 7% of core classes."
Of course, Chico State students who are set to return next Monday will also have an easier time finding classes and paying for classes thanks to the passage of the tax measure.
