A Downtown Chico deli has closed its doors for good, but there is already a new business ready to set up shop.
Bustolini's Deli quietly closed its doors earlier this month after ten years in business, but just officially announced the move today.
Bob Backstrom, who has owned the deli for seven years, says the tough economy finally caught up with him.
He says he had been borrowing money to stay afloat and was finally forced to make the tough decision to close the doors.
"I'm a people person. I loved sitting behind the counter talking to people all day. I'm sad, now Chico has no place to get a good sandwich," Bustolini’s owner, Bob Backstrom said.
Backstrom says he is planning a few going away shows at other locations in the city that he plans to announce on the restaurants Facebook page.
A new group of entrepreneurs is already planning to open a craft beer bar called the Winchester Goose and hope to have the remodeled building ready to open in March.
