North State elementary and middle school school students are raising money for a boy killed when a retaining wall collapsed at Lassen Volcanic National Park. The Tommy Botell Memorial Basketball Tournament tipped off Friday at the Bethel Assembly of God Church on Luther Road in Red Bluff. Eight teams are participating in the tournament. The tournament resumes Saturday morning from 8am to 4pm. Tickets are three dollars for adults one dollar for children. All proceeds will go to the Botell family to help cover funeral and medical expenses.

Nine-year-old Tommy Botell was killed when a rock wall collapsed in July of 2009 on the Lassen Peak Trail.   He had been hiking the trail with his parents and two sisters.
