For the men and women of the U.S. Military, life after service can be a bit jarring, but one organization in Butte County is making that transition a little easier. "For these gentlemen to come back, and slow down enough to feel safe in a quiet environment once again. That's one of our goals," according to Vector's House Executive Director Mike Sullivan.
One of those Gentlemen is Gridley native David Barber, who told our crews he was living on the street when he found out about the Vector's House. "They got me right in the house. As soon as I came, and talked to them, I got right in the house. It was a blessing. It turned my life around."
The house caters exclusively to men, and is currently home to 15 veterans. It's a dry facility, which means there is no alcohol or drugs allowed on the premises, and residents are not allowed to use either. All to make sure the vets stay on the right path. Barber says the house is more than just a place to hang his hat, it's a place where they can focus on developing their future. "They help you through the process of getting enrolled in school, they have someone that comes in, and actually helps with resumes."
The Vector's House will be holding an open house Friday, the 14th from 3 until 7 pm at 171 Rio Lindo Avenue in Chico.
