Kris has over 6 years combined experience forecasting weather in the North State. You may remember him when he worked at Action News from 2000 to 2003. He also worked in Redding from 1995 to 1998. Outside of the North State, Kris has experience forecasting weather in the challenging climates of Alaska, Colorado, and the not so challenging climate of Bakersfield!

Kris was one of the first meteorologists in the country to have earned the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist designation from the American Meteorological Society, or AMS. To earn this designation, a broadcaster must have a degree in meteorology, have their weather casts evaluated by the AMS, and pass an extensive academic exam. He has also earned his Seal of Approval from the National Weather Association. Kris graduated from UC Davis with a Bachelor of Science degree in Atmospheric Science.

He has 2 wonderful children. His son Dylan was born in Alaska, and his daughter Kaitlyn was born in Paradise.

Kris says 2 of his biggest thrills besides the birth of his children were running the Olympic Torch Relay through Sacramento in January of 2002, and broadcasting weather live on 'Good Morning America' with Spencer Christian during the Asphalt Cowboys Pancake Breakfast in Redding in 1998.

Hi Kris, I'd love to ask you a favor for my son. He loves your weather broadcasts and wants to be a "weatherman" like you someday. His birthday is October 4, 1995, so he is turning 15. He would be so surprised and excited to receive from you a signed picture of yourself. Is it possible? I'm keeping it a secret as I am sure it will be his most favorite, cherished gift. If you could possible do this in time for his birthday, I would be so happy, as will he. We are your biggest fans and look forward to watcing more forcasts of the weather with you. PS: We also like the entire Channel 12 news team, morning and evening. Our family has grown up with it. To get our information, please call me, Kathy Miller at 624-4712. My son is Samuel Miller, and he just started PVHS so he's a freshman. Well take it easy and keep on with the weather reports. Hopefully I'll be hearing from you. Samuel's mom, Kathy
